Galway Fly-in Friday 3rd to Sunday 5th July

The first fly-in to Galway in many years was led by aircraft from the West London Aero Club based at White Waltham airfield.

G-ELLA: PA32R Saratoga

G-BEPY: AC112 Rockwell Commander

G-BEZP: PA32  Cherokee

G-BOSE: PA28-161

YA-YAJ: Y18T YAK

G-AVLF: PA28-140 Piper

G-BHZE: PA26-161 Piper

Most of the aircraft arrived on Friday and were met by members of GFC who provided them with refreshments.  Two of the planned aircraft did not attend because of time constraints; their pilots had to be back in the UK on Monday morning and couldn’t take a chance with the weather. After some local flying, the visitors went to their Hotel and then it was on to Quay Street for the night.

On Saturday, two aircraft arrived from Navan; a Cessna 172 PH-BIT and a Piper Super Cub EI-DTS; also one from Athboy, a Cessna 172 G-YORK. A total of 18 visitors in all joined us for the barbeque on Saturday night. There were 35 GFC members who attended and a very special thanks to you all for the support.  The night went very well and a great time was had by all.

On Saturday evening, the club hosted a 'welcome to Galway' barbecue party for the guests and members.

We would like to thank all those who participated in the event and we look forward to seeing you again.
